Welcome to Woolwich Township!

On behalf of the Township Council, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Township of Woolwich!

The residents of Woolwich have a great deal of pride in their Township. With its rural heritage and bountiful harvests, Woolwich offers ways to experience a taste of country while still maintaining thriving business communities and beautiful residential areas.

Here, quiet roads wander through a patchwork of fields and farms where common sights include "slow moving vehicle" signs and the occasional Old Order Mennonite horse-drawn buggy. Dotted through are ten settlement areas, each offering its own unique character; including the bustling shops of Elmira and St. Jacobs' specialty food, unique clothing stores, restaurants and theatres. These characteristics help make Woolwich a truly special community.

There are many fantastic recreation and community centres including the Woolwich Memorial Centre in Elmira, which houses an active senior citizens program, community and meeting rooms for the public's use, two NHL-sized ice surfaces, two pools, a fitness centre and walking track.

The Township has numerous recreation programs and more than 30 public parks available to residents. In addition, there are many opportunities for residents to participate in community recreational and volunteer activities.

We are pleased that you have chosen our Township as a place to live. I also encourage you to get involved in your community. This is a great way for you to become acquainted with your neighbours and for us to get to know you.
