2015 Organized Summer Bike Rides

Everyone is invited to explore the beautiful countryside of Woolwich Township on one of our Summer Bike Rides.

Please meet 10 minutes prior to the ride start time.

Tuesday July 21, 6pm: Elmira-Hawkesville-Yatton-Floradale - 39.6 km

  • Ride starts at Woolwich Memorial Centre (WMC), 24 Snyder St. S., Elmira N3B 1Y9. Free parking and washrooms available. Easy ride with light traffic on an all-paved route through the beautiful Woolwich countryside. 2 Mennonite Country Block Tour- 19 km

This is a casual paved route through the beautiful countryside of Woolwich Township. The route begins in the Village of St. Jacobs.  En route you will see working Mennonite farms, parochial schools, the Conestogo River, the St. Jacobs Country Garden Centre and many farms selling fresh produce and flowers at their farm gates. 3 Elmira to Wellesley Wandering Loop- 62 km

Enjoy riding through areas of Mennonite/Amish farm country.  There are opportunities to spend time in Elmira, Hawkesville, Wellesley (the half way point with plenty of restaurants) and St. Clements.

Cycle through the beautiful countryside and rolling hills of Woolwich and Wellesley Townships.  Visit bakeries and traditional general stores in 5 rural villages (Hawkesville, Floradale, Yatton, Wallenstein and Elmira).  This route includes some great hilly sections with views of the Conestogo River in the Hawkesville area.   Cue sheet and map for this route are found at

This 53km trip follows quiet country roads with wonderful views of the Grand River.  Ride through the last covered bridge in Ontario - the West Montrose Covered Bridge.  Also known as the Kissing Bridge, people have long-used this spot to steal a kiss under the privacy of the covered bridge. Enjoy the peaceful beauty of West Montrose, Ariss and Maryhill along your way.  6 Elmira to Kissing Bridge Cycling Route - 39.5 km

Elmira to Kissing Bridge Cycling Route

Enjoy the countryside and rolling hills of Elmira and the surrounding area.
Take a break at the last covered bridge in Ontario and enjoy some great views of the Grand River.  Also known as the Kissing Bridge, people have long-used this spot to steal a kiss under the privacy of the covered bridge. As you travel through West Montorse, RIM Park (along the Walter Bean Trail), and Conestogo, you'll see many spectacular views of the Grand and Conestogo Rivers. Refreshments are available at Lost Acres Variety Store in West Montrose. 7 Woolwich Village Route- 41.2 km Woolwich Village Route

Enjoy the beautiful countryside of Woolwich Township.  Explore the villages of West Montrose (and visit the last covered bridge in Ontario), Elmira, St. Jacobs, and Winterbourne.  Much of this route follows the hard-packed, level surface of the Kissing Bridge Trailway (formerly a CP rail line) with beautiful views of working Mennonite farms and rolling countryside. Cue sheet and map to this route can be found at http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2298412

 9 St. Jacobs Country Tour- 24 kmSt. Jacobs Country Tour

Enjoy the beautiful and peaceful countryside.  Begin your ride at the St. Jacobs Farmers' Market and wind your way along back roads to the Village of St. Jacobs.  Approximately half of this route includes hard-packed gravel roads; the remaining roads are paved.  Washrooms and restaurants are available at the Farmers' Market (open Thursdays and Saturdays year round, plus Tuesdays from mid-June through the end of August), and in St. Jacobs.  There are many farms along the route that offer products for sale at their farm gate stands. Cue sheet and map this route can be found at

10. Woolwich Mountain Run - 31.6 km

Ride starts at Woolwich Memorial Centre (WMC) 24 Snyder St. S., Elmira N3B 1Y9. Free parking and washrooms are available. Start with a steep climb to the outskirts of North Woolwich. Then roll through the hills of Line 8 onto scenic Middlebrook Road with wonderful views of the Grand River. Enjoy the gradual descent down to the Kissing Bridge Trailway and then back to Elmira.
