Mennonite Country Block Tour- 19 kmMennonite Country Block Tour

This is a casual paved route through the beautiful Mennonite Countryside of Woolwich Township. The route begins in the village of St. Jacobs.  En route you will see working Mennonite farms, parochial schools, the River, the St. Jacobs Country Garden Centre as well as many farms offering farm gates sales. Restaurants and washrooms are located in Elmira and St. Jacobs.

Cycle through the beautiful Mennonite countryside and rolling hills of Woolwich and Wellesley Townships.  Visit bakeries and old general stores of 5 rural villages (Hawkesville, Floradale, Yatton, Wallenstein and Elmira).  The route includes some great hilly sections with views of the Conestogo River in the Hawkesville area

 

 

 

 Woolwich Village Route- 41.2 km

Woolwich Village RouteEnjoy the Mennonite countryside of Woolwich Township.  Explore the villages of West Montrose (and visit the last covered bridge in Ontario), Elmira, St. Jacobs, Winterbourne.  Much of this route follows the hard packed, level surface of the Kissing Bridge Trailway (formerly a CP rail line) with beautiful views of working Mennonite farms and rolling countryside.

 

 

Bloomingdale to Elora for Lunch- 53 km

Bloomingdale to Elora for Lunch

This 53 km trip follows quiet country roads with wonderful views of the Grand River.  Ride through the last covered bridge in Ontario at West Montrose.  Also known as the Kissing Bridge, lovers have long used this spot to steal a kiss under the privacy of the covered bridge. Enjoy the peaceful beauty of West Montrose, Ariss and Maryhill along your way.  Elora offers several options for lunch as well as shops to browse in. Watch for the castle of many styles along the way.

 


St. Jacobs Country Tour- 24 km

St. Jacobs Country Tour

Enjoy the beautiful Mennonite countryside.  Begin your ride at the St. Jacobs Farmers' Market, then wind your way along back roads to the village of St. Jacobs.  Approximately half of this route includes hard packed gravel roads, the remaining roads are paved.  Washrooms and restaurants are available at the Farmers' Market (open Thursdays and Saturdays year round plus Tuesdays from mid-June through the end of August), as well as in St. Jacobs.  There are many farms along the route that offer farm gate sales of produce, meat and quilts.

 

Elmira to Wellesley Wandering Loop- 62 km

Elmira to Wellesley Wandering Loop

Enjoy riding through Mennonite/Amish farm country.  On route you can visit Elmira, Hawkesville, Wellesley (the half way point with plenty of restaurants) and St. Clements.

Enjoy a 50 km ride through picturesque Woolwich Township, with river crossings, river views and a covered bridge (at West Montrose). Villages include Bloomingdale, Conestogo,  St. Jacobs, Hawkesville, Elmira, West Montrose and Winterbourne. Restaurants available in Conestogo, St. Jacobs and Elmira.

Enjoy the Mennonite countryside in Woolwich Township along the back roads between the  St. Jacobs Farmers' Market and the village of Millbank.  Anna Mae's home cooking and famous broasted chicken is a "must" in Millbank.  This tour also passes through the villages of Kingwood, Wellesley, Poole, St. Clements, Heidelberg and Crosshill.

Enjoy the Mennonite countryside and rolling hills of Elmira and area.
Take a break at the last covered bridge in Ontario and enjoy some great views of the Grand River.  Also known as The Kissing Bridge, lovers have long used this spot to steal a kiss under the privacy of the covered bridge. This route offers many spectacular views of the Grand and Conestogo Rivers as one travels through West Montrose, RIM Park (along the Walter Bean Trail) and Conestogo. Refreshments are available at Lost Acres Variety Store in West Montrose. Elmira and Conestogo offer several restaurants with breakfast, lunch and dinner menus.
