Who needs this permit?
In general, any organized activity impacting Township's services or involving the use of, or having impact on, sidewalks, medians, or street areas requires a permit. A banner permit is also required for organizations wishing to hang a banner across Arthur Street South in Elmira. Banner permits are issued on a first come first serve bases.
Application Forms & Process
All applications must be accompanied with insurance in the amount of $2,000,000 and have the Township of Woolwich named as an additional insured. If an event is being held on a Regional Road the additional insured is to also to name the Region of Waterloo along with the Township of Woolwich.
All special event permit applications are sent to the applicable governing authorities for their review and approval. Each type of application has a requirement for the amount of days prior to the date of event that is needed in order to process the permit. The requirements are as follows and must include a full permit submission (application completed in full with a copy of the insurance certificate attached):
~ No Road Closure - minimum of 10 business days
~ Road Closure - minimum of 30 business days (due to the fact that a report needs to be completed and sent to Council
for approval)~ Banner Permits - minimum of 10 business day prior to placement of banner. Banner must accompany the application
and must conform to the requirements listed in Schedule 1 of the application.
If you do require a road closure, applications must be received 30 business days prior to the date of the event in order to give all governing authorities sufficient time to rAn application form can be obtained from the Engineering & Planning Services of the Township of Woolwich.
