Facility Development

The year 2007 was a year of transition for the Township in terms of facility development.  The Maryhill Community Centre was constructed and opened for the community in October.  Meanwhile, designs were completed, tenders called and contracts awarded for the following projects:

1. Woolwich Memorial Centre  Construction Dec '07    Opened Fall 2009

2. Adminstration Building          Construction Dec '07    Opened Nov 2008

3. Woolwich Twp Arena             Construction Dec '07    Opened Sept 2008

4. Floradale Fire Station            Construction Jan. '08    Opened Sept 2008

5. Elmira Library Accessibility  Construction Jan '08     Opened July 2008

6. Maryhill Heritage Park Community Centre                Opened October '07

A seventh project, the Breslau Community Centre is currently under construction with completion expected end of December 2009.  This project  entails an addition to the existing Sales Centre recently built in Breslau Memorial Park. The Sales Centre will be turned over to the Township after development of the Riverlands subdivision is completed.

The community's role in this development plan has been widespread-throughout the various stages of design and certainly in an incredible fundraising campaign. The fundraising goal of $5.6 million is nearing completion.  The community involvement has provided Council with the comfort level of knowing the community is firmly behind these projects, while also augmenting the financial resources needed to bring all projects to completion.
