Recreation Associations
The Township of Woolwich is fortunate to have many volunteer organizations that provide services above and beyond those from the Township. All minor sport organizations are run autonomously from the Township and depend on a core of dedicated volunteers to provide that service or program.
Throughout the Township, six Recreation Associations operate Township parks and facilities on behalf of the Township for the residents of specific settlement areas. Many of these Associations have been in existence for decades, some with a history dating back to the 1950s. Parks with ball diamonds, play equipment, tennis courts, picnic pavilions, recreation centres and more recently, soccer pitches, have been developed in cooperation with the Township through the efforts of the citizens of those settlements. Listed below are the Associations currently operating specific facilities:
Bloomingdale Recreation Association
Bloomingdale Park off Sawmill Road at 1031 Snyder Flats Road. Community Centre, Picnic Shelter which holds 80 people, Baseball Diamonds both lit, sports pad, basketball court, horseshoe pits and playground. Our Community Centre holds 60 people with complete kitchen facilities and is available for family reunions, picnic, showers, birthdays etc. Look for us on facebook. 37th Annual Strawberry Social-Wednesday, June 19, 2013 5-7:30pm- Come out meet your neighbours and enjoy the fresh bake shortcake topped with delicious ripe strawberries. Simple bbq, Silent Auction, 50/50, playground, music by Menno Valley Sound. FUN FOR ALL AGES! Breslau Lions Splash Pad Initiative
The Breslau Lions have received approval in principle from Woolwich Township to move forward with plans for a splash pad in Breslau. The Lions plan to officially kick off the fundraising for the splash pad at the Family Day event on June 8th. Please drop by and visit our booth, see how you can make a difference and get involved in this great community project. Representatives of the design company, the Township and the Lions will be present to answer your questions. View each of the three final designs and indicate your favorite with a pocket change donation to the design of your choice, The design receiving the most cash will be the final pick. Heidelberg Recreation Association
Welcome to Heidelberg, the little town with lots of spirit! Our spacious and clean streets provide a great place to go for a stroll or bike ride with your family, or maybe a jog around town. Join us at the Heidelberg Community Park on Lobsinger Line (access also from Venus Crescent) the pride of the community with a groomed lit baseball diamond, picnic shelter, beach volleyball and playground, tennis & basketball court, one of the largest outdoor skating ice rinks in the area and great tobogan hill in the winter. Your Recreation Association has lots of events planned to keep residents entertained. Come and Join in the fun! Watch the large park sign on Lobsinger Line entrance for local events.
Fall Fun Day-Saturday, September 7, 2013- Spend the afternoon in the park with your neighbours, getting reacquainted after summer vacation. Plan for fun for everyone!
Fall Park Clean up Day-Saturday October 19, 2013- Help us to get the park ready for winter. We'll rake leaves, clean up the flower beds, install the rink boards and anything else the park needs before the cold weather settles in once again.
Rink in the Park- Another Heidelberg tradition! Come out and enjoy skating or a game of pick up hockey. Consider becoming a "Heidelberg Hoser", and help to keed the rink cleared and flooded!

Build a Better Booth Campaign to raise funds to build a bigger, better, accessible, safer building for the community. We have our plans drawn up for an accessible community use building. Our wish is to build in 2014, provided we raise our 1/3 of the total cost of the project. Charitable Receipts will be given for any contributions over $25 to the Campaign. Heidelberg Townwide Garage Sale- Saturday, May 10, 2014: 8am-2:00pm
Come out and enjoy the beautiful little town of Heidelberg filled with treasures for every taste. Over 60 homes have participated in this annual event which has been going on for over 20 years. $5/ house is collected by the Heidelberg Parks & Recreation Association from each house taking part in the sale-set up in your garage or driveway. This event goes rain or shine. All proceeds go towards community programs and park revitalization. Come out and enjoy the day in the friendly town of Heidelberg. Maryhill Recreation Association
Maryhill Heritage Park on St. Charles St.. playground, ice rink in the winter. The new wheelchair accessible Community Centre continues to be the focal point for many activities in the area. Weekly tot programs, senior exercise and card parties are enjoyed by many. The community centre is available for rentals for anniversaries, birthdays, weddings and Christmas parties. New Horizons Seniors' Group
Calling all Zoomers, Boomers and Seniors in Woolwich Township- Join us to learn, socialize and have fun!
