Recreation Associations

The Township of Woolwich is fortunate to have many volunteer organizations that provide services above and beyond those from the Township.  All minor sport organizations are run autonomously from the Township and depend on a core of dedicated volunteers to provide that service or program.

Throughout the Township, six Recreation Associations operate Township parks and facilities on behalf of the Township for the residents of specific settlement areas.  Many of these Associations have been in existence for decades, some with a history dating back to the 1950s.  Parks with ball diamonds, play equipment, tennis courts, picnic pavilions, recreation centres and more recently, soccer pitches, have been developed in cooperation with the Township through the efforts of the citizens of those settlements.  Listed below are the Associations currently operating specific facilities:

  • Bloomingdale Recreation Association, Bloomingdale Park on Sawmill Road. Community Centre, Picnic Shelter which holds 100 people, Baseball Diamonds both lighted, sports pad, basketball court, horseshoe pits and playground. Our Community Centre holds 60 people with complete kitchen facilities and is available for family reunions, picnic, showers, birthdays etc.

  • Conestogo Recreation Association, Conestogo Community Park on Evening Star Lane. Baseball diamond and playground. Contact Jim (519) 664-2662 for diamond rental.
  • Floradale Park Association, Floradale Park on Florapine Road. Baseball diamond and playground Contact Oscar (519) 669-8513 for diamond rental 
  • Heidelberg Parks & Recreation Association, Heidelberg Community Park  on Lobsinger Line access also from Venus Crescent. Lit baseball diamond, picnic shelter, beach volleyball and playground, tennis & basketball court, ice rink and tobogan hill in the winter. Several scheduled programs through out the year.  Winter Fun Day on Family Day in February,  Community Garage Sale the second Saturday in May , and Family Fun Day the second Saturday in  Sept.   • Maryhill Recreation Association, Maryhill Heritage Park on St. Charles St..  playground, ice rink in the winter. The new  wheelchair accessible Community Centre continues to be the focal point for many activities in the area. Weekly tot programs, senior exercise and card parties are enjoyed by many. The community centre is available for rentals for anniversaries, birthdays, weddings and Christmas parties.  Peach Social will be held on August 18th 5 pm-9pm.  Contact Debbie (519) 648-2187.

    Calling all Zoomers, Boomers and Seniors in Woolwich Township- Come and participate in a newly formed group "New Horizons".  The meetings are going well and we continue to have good turnouts. We meet the second Thursday of the month September thru May, 10 am- 11:30 am at the Maryhill Heritage Park Community Centre 58 St. Charles St. E.
