Property Inquiries

To answer most general inquiries regarding a property, you must contact Planning Staff and provide the property address to confirm the zoning applicable to your property to properly answer your questions. Below is a list of common questions with a brief answer.

Fences
The Township only regulates fencing on corner lots, so as not to interfere with traffic movements. For more details please contact planning staff.

Decks
Decks require a building permit and are subject to meeting the setbacks in the zoning by-law. For more information please contact building staff.

Sheds
Regardless of whether a building permit is required, all sheds must meet zoning by-law regulations (i.e., setbacks, size). For details regarding your property please confirm the regulations with planning and building staff.

Survey of a Property
The Township may have a copy of a property survey, however, the Land Registry office has copies of all surveys. If the Township has a survey it can only be given to the property owner, or an agent with authorization from the owner.

Property Ownership
The Township can assist you in finding who the owner of a particular property is. Staff can provide you the Property Roll Number for the property, which you can then use to search out the property owner. You need to provide a property address or details for planning staff to find the property.

Zoning
To confirm zoning and permitted uses on a property please contact planning staff and provide a street address.
