Drainage Channel Maintenance - Starting August 21, 2023
Posted on Thursday August 17, 2023
The area of the work will be between the back of properties on Brookmead Street and Bluejay Road/Bluebird Place from Sugar King Drive to Second Street- on Township property.
The work plan for this segment of channel includes:
- Removal of any hazardous or dead trees found within the drainage channel.
- Removal of any woody vegetation found within the grass area between the drainage channel and private property that affects maintenance access.
- Removal of small stature tree growth (less than 15 cm diameter) within the drainage channel to allow for better water flow during rain events.
- Work directly with the residents, who have installed structures on township lands that affects maintenance access, to have those items removed.
The main purpose of a channel drain is to remove surface water away from a selected area. This helps to prevent flooding and overspilling. These drains are also used to control water flow in an area by reducing the stress being put on the system.
