The rewards of being a volunteer fire fighter are extensive. The work is exciting and challenging.
Qualifications include:
- Must be a resident of Woolwich
- NFPA 1001 Level I & II or willing to obtain in first year of employment
- NFPA 1072 – Operations Level or willing to obtain in first year of employment
Responsibilities include:
- Fire suppression duties necessary to save life and property
- Combat, extinguish and/or prevent fires by rapidly and efficiently performing varied duties as required under emergency conditions
- Provide emergency medical response and aid
- Perform rescue/extrication operations where necessary to prevent loss of life or further injury
- Provide service assistance with respect to the police, paramedics and the public
Woolwich Fire Department currently provides fire protection services from fire stations located in Breslau, Conestogo, Elmira, Floradale, Maryhill and St. Jacobs.
