Third party advertising is any message or material to support or oppose a Candidate or a question on the ballot which incurs a cost. Third Party Advertisers must register with the Clerk in each municipality where they plan to advertise. The Clerk will review each registration upon filing and certify the registration if satisfied that the person, corporation, or trade union is qualified and the registration complies with the Act.

Any Third Party Advertisers who have registered in Woolwich will be listed here.

Notice of Default and Review of Contributions Report

Sections 88.23 and 88.34 of the Municipal Elections Act requires the Clerk to review and report on any reasons why a candidate may be in default of the Act and all contributions reported on candidates' financial statements that appear to have exceeded contribution limits.

For the 2026 Election, this review will be completed in early 2027. The 2022 Notice of Default and Review of Contributions Report is available from the previous election. The 2018 2018 Notice of Default Report is also available.

Municipal Election Compliance Audits

The Township has established a joint Municipal Election Compliance Audit Committee (MECAC) with partners from the Region of Waterloo, the Cities of Cambridge, Guelph, Kitchener, Waterloo, and the Townships of North Dumfries, Wellesley and Wilmot and Woolwich. MECAC's Terms of Reference sets out the role of MECAC which is to consider applications requesting compliance audits of candidates or third party advertiser election campaign finances, any resulting auditors’ reports, and the Clerk’s Report identifying apparent contribution contraventions under section 88 of the Municipal Elections Act.
