    Waterloo Region – The Government of Ontario has announced it will move the province into Step One of its Roadmap to Reopen at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, June 11, 2021.

  • Woolwich Township Supports Climate Change Mitigation Strategy

    Woolwich, ON – On June 1st, Woolwich Council endorsed the TransformWR strategy, as the community climate change mitigation strategy for the Township of Woolwich. The TransformWR strategy identifies 78 actions to reduce our local greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 80% by the year 2050.

  • Garlic Mustard Alert

    Garlic Mustard is an invasive plant to be on the look-out for this spring in Woolwich. It is a non-native plant that often outcompetes our native plant life.  Manual removal methods include: cutting plants before they set seed or pulling the plants and discarding to waste -- not compost to avoid seed spreading.  Visit Ontario Invasive Plants Council website for information about Garlic Mustard and methods to control it.

  • Gypsy Moth on the Rise again in 2021

    Gypsy moth populations are on the rise again in Waterloo Region this year resulting in tree defoliation, especially oak, beech, birch and spruce in urban as well as forested areas. Gypsy moth caterpillar defoliation can result in tree stress and mortality. Background information can be found on the Pelham Niagara webpage.

  • Masks for Woolwich Businesses

    Thank you to Eclipse Automation of Cambridge, ON, for the generous donation of level-3 surgical grade masks to the Township of Woolwich and greater Region of Waterloo. We are pleased to be able to coordinate the Free supply of masks to small and medium size businesses (50 or fewer employees) in the Township of Woolwich.

  • Water Remote Reading Program

    Woolwich, ON – The Township of Woolwich is set to begin retrofitting existing water meters to a new Smart Radio.  This new Smart Radio will enable the Township to remotely read water meters which will eliminate the need to physically attend the property of water customers.  This program will only affect properties in Woolwich who are being supplied water from the Township.  Over the next six months KTI will be working in West Montrose, Maryhill. Heidelberg, Conestogo, St. Jacobs and Breslau.

  • Summer Patio Seating, Mill Street, Elmira

    Woolwich, ON – To continue supporting businesses impacted by the ongoing pandemic, Council for the Township of Woolwich has approved outdoor patio seating again this summer on Mill Street, in Elmira. A portion of the patio will be available for members of the public to use at their leisure. The public community seating area will offer picnic tables, umbrellas and chairs and will be filled with greenery, such as trees and flowers.
