Woolwich Issues Burn Ban Due to Air Quality

WOOLWICH Due to the current Air Quality Alert, a burn ban will take effect on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 12:00 a.m.

Effective at that time, all active burn permits will be suspended, and no new burn permits will be issued until further notice. Residential and open-air burning will not be permitted while the ban remains in effect.

The burn ban applies to all outdoor burning activities, including recreational fires, campfires, fire pits, and cooking fires that utilize wood or other solid fuels. Propane and natural gas appliances, such as barbecues and gas fire tables, may continue to be used safely in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.

Poor air quality conditions pose increased health risks to residents and can contribute to unsafe fire conditions for both the public and emergency responders.

Residents are reminded that failure to comply with the burn ban may result in charges and/or fees for service if the Fire Department is required to respond to and extinguish an unauthorized fire.

Woolwich Fire Services will continue to closely monitor weather forecasts and air quality conditions. Updates regarding the status of the burn ban will be provided through municipal websites and official social media channels as conditions change.

The Township appreciates the public's cooperation in helping protect the health and safety of the community and emergency responders.
